The Ragdale Series, 48 collage on paper completed at the Ragdale Foundation, ©1999 The name of this series is a real place. The Ragdale Foundation is an art residency that I was invited to for two weeks in May/June of 1999. I arrived with paper, tape, scissors, acrylic paint, brushes, glue and a brown paper shopping bag of color copies made from slides of my existing works. The color copies existed because it was a new invention and the bag was filled with tests and misprints. In total, I created 100s works of art at Ragdale. The series holds significance since it was my first body of work after being hospitalized 6 months earlier. The episode itself changed my life and changed the course of my artwork. The Ragdale Series describes a bit of my experience. My main goal in attending Ragdale was not only to make art, but to be with others as the best person I could be. This was because of what I had observed and learned, I wanted to prolong a state of loveliness. The Ragdale Series tells a story, and was exhibited in my studio in 1999, pinned to the walls.
